When it comes to leisure management software, Ian Wilcock has pretty much seen it all. He’s worked with leisure management software for as long as he can remember, including during his nine years as a key member of the Jonas Leisure team.
He enjoys talking with people who are starting their leisure management software journey to hear their perspectives and share advice. Outside of work, you are most likely to find him on a bike, playing golf, enjoying a game of squash or out on one of Melbourne’s walking trails.
We caught up with Ian recently to find out a bit more about him.
I’m the Business Manager. I enjoy talking with current and prospective clients on daily basis.
How long have you been in the role, and what did you do beforehand?
I’ve been with Jonas Leisure for nine years now, and I’ve worked with leisure and leisure-related software solutions for as long as I remember – it’s an interesting area to be in.
A typical day for me involves engaging with current and prospective clients and reviewing and respond to their needs.
Where are you based right now, and what is your office like?
I’m currently working from a home office in Melbourne. I’m fortunate to have a dedicated office space in my home, in the form of a spare bedroom that is well setup with a desk, screens and a view to the garden.
I like to stay active. During the COVID-19 restrictions in Melbourne cycling and squash have been my go-to recreation activities, but with things easing up I’m looking forward to being able to play more squash and golf.
I’ve always liked The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. It’s a book that works on many levels, with equal appeal to children and adults. On one level it is a child’s fairy tale – the story of an airman’s discovery of a small boy from another planet. On another level it is a thought-provoking reflection of what is important in life.
Italy. It’s a country with beautiful cities, great history and amazing countryside.
