Humans of Jonas Leisure: Maree Cruden

You may not have come across Maree Cruden yet, as she’s one of the newest members of the Jonas Leisure team, but when your paths eventually cross, you’ll find someone with an absolute zest for an active life.

Whether that be getting out in the outdoors or dreaming about traveling around Europe when international travel becomes easier, Maree was full of positivity about the year ahead during our recent chat about her work, interests, and hopes for the future.

What is your current role with Jonas Leisure, and what do you most enjoy about it?

My current role is as a professional services consultant. I love that no two days are the same in this job. Every day presents a new opportunity to learn and grow.

How long have you been in the role, and what did you do beforehand?

I’ve only been in the role five months. Prior to starting at Jonas Leisure, I worked fifteen years in Operations at the Fitness and Lifestyle Group. Most of that time was spent directly with Fitness First Australia.

What do you do in a typical workday?

As I’m still relatively new, my days are spent learning the software and doing my best to translate those learnings into teaching for our clients.

Where are you based right now, and what is your office like?

My office is at home. I joined the team during the pandemic in Victoria, so we are still currently remote working.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I’m very much an outdoors person. I love to hike and stay active. Given restrictions on major travel, I take advantage of the weekends with day trips around the state, strolling through the local markets.

What is your favourite music, movie or book?

I love any genre of music, but the music that came out of the ’80s will always have a special place in my heart. I used to be an avid reader, but I’m more of a podcast listener now. True Crime is my favourite.

If you could go on holiday to one country once international travel is back on the cards, where would you go?

I would love to go back to Croatia. It must be one of the most beautiful countries I have ever been to. My time spent there was too short, and I would love to explore more of what it has to offer.

What are you most looking forward to about 2022?

Tying in nicely to the above question: travel! I am really looking forward to the world opening again and having the opportunity to get out and discover new places.
