Alissa Lim, General Manager. Alissa is an active woman with an active work life. For Jonas Leisure’s Melbourne-based general manager, no two days are ever the same; she could be mentoring team members one day and then making strategic business decisions the next. When she’s not working, she’s running rings around people on the track and singing along to her favourite pop songs.
For me, it’s the variety of work that I come up against – no day is ever the same! I could be doing anything, from forecasting and analysing data, to making strategic business decisions, coaching, providing support and leadership, or helping the team resolve support and development requests from customers.
I’ve only been doing it since the start of this year, and prior to this I was Jonas Leisure’s Operations Manager.
This is hard as its always different, but I mainly answer emails, check forecast and financial numbers, look over the log of customer support and development requests, and have one-to-one calls with my team members.
I’m based in Melbourne and working from home at the moment.
Outside of work I am a very active person. I compete socially in athletics, including the 200m and 100m. I also love spending time with my two small children, as well as going on weekend adventures, exploring our city through food, parks and wine!
POP! I used to be a performer for Johnny Young Talent School, so I have always been very into POP music. Currently, my car playlist is a variety of iTunes future hits.
If you could go on holiday to one country once the Covid pandemic is under control, where would you go?
I would love to visit Tblisi, Georgia. It’s a place that has always fascinated me because it borders two different continents – Eastern Europe where my family is from and Western Asia where my husband’s family is from. I want to hike up the Caucasus Mountains and, as a ex ballet dancer, I want to see the Georgian ballet performances.
